Constraining the reionization and thermal history of the Universe using a seminumerical photon-conserving code <scp>script</scp>

ABSTRACT Given that the reionization history of cosmic hydrogen is yet to be stringently constrained, it worth checking prospects doing so using physically motivated models and available observational data. For this purpose, we use an extended version explicitly photon-conserving seminumerical model reionization, script, which also includes thermal evolution intergalactic medium (IGM). The incorporates effects inhomogeneous recombination radiative feedback self-consistently characterized by five free parameters (two for redshift-dependent ionization efficiency, two ionizing escape fraction, another temperature increment). We constrain these simultaneously matching with various probes, e.g. estimates ionized CMB scattering optical depth galaxy UV luminosity function. In addition, include low-density IGM measurements obtained from Lyman-? absorption spectra at z?5.5, a probe not commonly used Bayesian analysis parameters. find interplay data sets, particularly inclusion data, leads tightening parameter constraints. Our default prefer late end (at z ? 6), in agreement other recent studies. can derive constraints on duration $\Delta z=1.81^{+0.51}_{-0.67}$ mid-point $z_{\mathrm{mid}}=7.0^{+0.30}_{-0.40}$. further tightened including upcoming sets.
